Nuclear Power
I would build a new generation of efficient nuclear power stations, with the long term aspiration of ending dependence of fossil fuels. I would also make the UK world leaders on nuclear waste reprocessing.
How, in the absence of the CEGB? The government doesn't build power stations any more, thank God.
Should you do any more than ensure rational incentives, within the planning system (i.e. incentives in the public-choice-theory sense, which are currently skewed towards refusal) and the market, including a rational mechanism for internalising diffuse environmental externalities (e.g. carbon)? Should the government give an extra leg-up to nuclear?
33, liberal free-market Atlanticist, monarchist, political enthusiast, blogger, website builder, bon viveur, skier, film watcher, man of Kent, Old Harrovian, Durham University alumnus, master of engineering, son of London, kit car builder, yogi, iPod Touch aficionado, iPhone communicator, ex-public sector leech, consulting monkey. All round slacker.
Over the next few months I will be setting out the policies I would implement if I was ever elected to parliament. There will be a mixture of serious and amusing issues addressed, depending on the mood I'm in, but overall expect them to be slightly right of centre.
Feel free to post comments or email me.
